We’ve been looking for a flat for 5 girls in the heart of Sydney for a week and it was proving rather difficult to find. Luckily for us, Bianchi (Ally) loves a good flirt and just so happened to flirt with someone who took us straight to an agency with an available 6 bed flat. Here’s how we managed to find a flat in the heart of Sydney!
We were unsure what to do as the idea of living in Bondi was still in the back of our minds. You know, walking up to perfect views, morning runs on the beach, cocktails after work… Bondi was even harder to find anything! Yesterday we made the decision to move into the 6 bed flat here in Sydney. 240 dollars a week for half of a bedroom.. FAB! The money situation makes Sydney sound crazy expensive, and it is. But the wages balance the cost of rent and food here, so you actually come out on top.
Realistically I can pay for my rent in one and half days work! Buzzing.. and to be fair, the rent does include a gym, sauna, swimming pool and a massive balcony overlooking darling harbour – perfect for BBQ’s.
Given that were in Australia and all. ‘’G,day mate, shrimp on the Barbie?’’ while wearing ‘’thongs’’ on their feet.
Slightly off track here but that just reminded me about an incident that happened in the bathroom the other day. An older woman comes out of the shower while I was putting my makeup on saying ‘’I forgot my thongs so I had to wear these’’ Naturally, I didn’t want to turn around, as I had already pictured her in my mind wearing a huge pair of knickers and not much more. I soon realised she meant her flipflops as I see her pointing down to the heeled sandals she was wearing on her feet. Yeah she basically showered in her heels.
Later on I had my first Futsal league match. I have been in Australia for only 5 days so don’t ask me how this has happened. Word of mouth I guess.
One of the guys from the club called Jake picked me up for the game and I got to drive over the Sydney bridge which was so cool. Jake was the first Australian I have really come in to contact with so far, so I was fascinated by everything he said.
I met the girls when we got there and I was given my kit- personalised may I add! I sat up in the stands for the first half with no intention of playing, as I had never met the girls, had never trained with them before and was unfamiliar with their style of play! I basically said I would help out if needed. So, within 7 minutes to go of the first half, one of there payers gets knocked on the knee. All the girls turned to look at me. Yeah so that happened, I went to get kitted up and I played the second half. We lost 2-0 overall, but was decent game.
I cant wait to get back into training which I can start in my new pool and gym, ehem. Move in date isn’t until the 12th of November so we are staying in the hostel for just under another 3 weeks. I don’t know if I can take much more of this living out of a suitcase palava – which by the way, slightly broke the other day with one of the wheels snapping. Probably something to do with the 31kg its been holding.
