Update: We have now been here for 9 weeks and it feels like we’ve been here our entire lives. Depressing isn’t it. We haven’t had much luck with our farming career. Libby and I have been working on 2 farms for the past 3 weeks. The cyclone seriously ruined all the farms up here, so we’re picking up work wherever possible, and keeping our 13 week continuity going!
Aside from the negativity, life is pretty sweet. T has been staying with me in the hostel which is great. He leaves next month as his visa runs out so its nice to spend as much time with him as possible.
We went out for the day yesterday and found a a lovely spot called Hideaway Bay. It’s the closest place to the Whitsunday Islands without actually being there and it was literally paradise. We found one of those cliché palm trees that are half bent over right in font of the water. It even had a rope swing on it. We chilled on the beach, had a couple of cocktails and watched the sunset. We took a few insta worthy photos too.
It was Libby’s birthday a couple of days ago. Not really a place you want to celebrate your birthday but we tried to make a massive fuss of her on the day. After work we had a present ready for her – a new bikini which she loved. We also got her a card for everyone to sign and a cake. Happy Birthday songs were played for a hour until she got sick of them too. Not much else has been happening around here. I’m now just hoping work picks up so I can get my farm work over and done with already.
