Look at the colour of that sky, and see how it reflects on the water, completely lighting up the entire atmosphere. This moment, when ignoring everything else was magical, breathtaking. However, if you look close enough, you’ll see tons of rubbish on the floor and an island that is being neglected. Unfortunately this contrast in beauty and neglect was consistent throughout the island. If people would take a little more care of this place, it could be seen and experienced for its true beauty. At first, we were quite disappointed with the place until we made our way out of the town to Cat Ba National Park, and saw a completely different side to the island. After climbing 1000ft up the National Park, we reached the top to see a 360^ endless panoramic view of colourful green mountains. It was completely breathtaking. * * It’s important when you travel to not always let your first impressions scare you off. Whether you’ve got too much on your plate, you’ve had an argument with a loved one or you can’t find the motivation to commit to something that you desperately want to achieve and it’s frustrating the hell out of you... - The last few months have been pretty tough for everyone and it’s okay to handle it however you please. Some days I feel on top of the world and other days I just feel like moping around, eating unhealthy snacks and binge watching Modern Family, and that’s okay. Promise me one thing though, even when you don’t feel like smiling, you’ll actively try to find light in each day - no matter how small it may be. They actually say that you can trick your brain into thinking you are happy by simply faking a smile (fake it till you make it 🙏🏻) proving that it’s mind over matter! 🥰 I love the little things in life, including this moment when I found these really unique rocks. Instagram post 2339502985583043370_2249554864 This is one of the most memorable days I have ever had. From sunrise to sunset it was full of magical surprises. Hikes, incredible views, wildlife, marine life, boat trips, rainbows, great company, you name it. It was also the first time I ever got to swim with Manta rays and my gosh was this experience incredible! They were swimming about 10 metres below the surface and I dived down as far as I could to swim close to them. I had only just finished by L1 freediving course (using a rope 😜) so they were a little deep for me but either way, swimming above them I got to experience the tranquility and elegance that these ginormous beasts radiate. The Komodo Islands had been on my list since I first saw photos pop up on @mariefeandjakesnow (@majapresets) Instagram account and I am honestly so glad I made it happen. They are definitely one of my top recommended places to visit! Instagram post 2330059807134290439_2249554864 Have you ever visited a place that took your breath away, then you returned a while later to see that it had completely changed? I first visited Hanoi train street over 3 years ago when it was rarely seen on Instagram. One of my friends happened to find the street after speaking to a local man and told me where to find it. I did some research to find that the train only passed twice a day, and so I set out on a mission to find it amidst the busy streets of Hanoi, in time for the passing of the train. I arrived early to explore and to snap a few photos before it arrived. As the train began to approach, the locals started ushering their children inside and collecting their washing from the line that hung adjacent to the tracks. They signalled me to move and one man told me to stand with my back pressed against his garage door. I felt a huge gush of air as the train came rushing past me, inches from my face. I had an instant adrenaline rush as I was not expecting it to come so close, nor go so fast. Within seconds the train had passed and people came back outside and went about their day, as though this was a 'normality'- which to them it was. This photo was taken that day; a day I got to experience true local-life. Since then, I have been back to Hanoi (end of 2019) and arrived to see that the street has been ruined. The locals saw an opportunity and took it (fair play to them) and now there are 100's of bars down each side of the track and you have to have a drink or hire a guide in order to witness the action, while making your way through large crowds of other tourists. There are also security guards monitoring the tracks and dozens of trains are scheduled to pass daily to entertain the masses of people. What was once a truly unique experience is sadly no longer the same. If you plan to visit the track, go before the bars open at 8am so you can explore freely but note you are not guaranteed to see a train. If you read my blog (linked in my bio) and go to the address I mentioned, you may find yourself a quiet spot 😜 Is there a place that you have visited that was so incredible the first time, but seems to have since been ruined by tourism?

As an asthma sufferer I found it challenging at times in the 35c heat, but I knew that reaching this view point would be worth putting in the effort for - and I was right! 2020 has brought about some uncomfortable change so far, pushing boundaries, causing us to think, to act, to challenge both ourselves and each other. It is change that needed to happen for the good of both humanity and Mother Earth herself. To achieve greatness we must push our physical and mental limits, despite the uncomfortable feelings that may cause. I could honestly sit and watch one every night and be completely amazed each and every time at how the colours fill the sky. There have been less than 5 times that I have seen a sunset that has left me in complete awe, feeling a unique sensation running through my body; a feeling of complete appreciation and gratitude. A feeling of being completely present in the moment. This right here was one of those moments. I sat here as the sky became more and more colourful and watched closely as the river lit up from the reflections. The houses turning a warm shade of pink as the sun began to drop. I sat in good company, together mesmerised at the incredible sight before our eyes.
