Pizza is an all-time favourite and being able to make it by yourself makes it that much better. You can add as many things as you like, and make healthier alternatives. Below I have outlined an easy recipe for a homemade pizza, describing how to make both the dough and the sauce.

The Pizza Dough

Ingredients

500 gr flour
280 gr warm water
20 gr extra virgin olive oil
16 gr salt
5 gr sugar
14 gr dry yeast

Instructions

Place flour, salt and sugar in a bowl. Add the yeast to the warm water to dissolve it.

Add the water and oil to the flour mix and start to work it into dough. Do this for about 10 minutes so the gluten starts to grow.

Portion the dough, about 200 grams each. Mold it in to balls and put each piece (depending on how much dough you have made) on a plate and cover it with cling film. Make sure the plastic is not attached to the bottom of the plate. The plastic needs to be loose on top of the dough so it has space to grow and move. Put the dough balls in the fridge and leave them for a night.

Next day;

Get the dough out of the fridge and roll them in a round shape. Make sure you have flour on the space where you roll out the dough otherwise it will stick on the roller. Once the dough is rolled, it is ready to be decorated with as many ingredients as you like.

To make the sauce – Tomato sauce

Ingredients

1 onion
2 cloves garlic
1 thyme
1 rosemary
1 oregano
300 gr canned tomatoes
10 gr sugar
Salt
Pepper
Olive oil

Instructions

Cut the onions, garlic, rosemary, thyme, and oregano very finely.

Put some oil in a pan and add all of the above until cooked. Add the tomatoes and sugar.

Complete the sauce with salt and pepper, to taste.

Mix it with a blender (if you have one)

TIP! Make sure the tomato sauce is cold when you put it on the pizza dough otherwise it will start cooking itself.

Bake in the oven on 220’C for about 10 min. Check on it a few times as it may need a few less/extra minutes.
