Here are a list of the 12 best places to visit in Mallorca, the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands. It offers a blend of beautiful beaches, scenic landscapes, cultural sites, and vibrant nightlife.

Cala Pi

Cala Pi is a picturesque beach located on the south coast of Mallorca. It’s known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and stunning cliffs that surround the bay.

The best time to visit Cala Pi beach based on the positioning of the sun is from late morning (10:30/11) or early afternoon. The sun hits the beach directly during these times, meaning you can sunbathe and enjoying the scenery. Note that there will be lots of cars by this point 😅 If you want direct sunlight on the beach, avoid the late afternoon as the cliffs may cast shadows.

Parking can be a bit challenging during peak seasons, as the area tends to get crowded. However, there are parking lots available near the beach. You want to go early to ensure you get a spot, but not too early that there’s no sun shining on the beach.

The nearest supermarkets and restaurants are within walking distance from the beach, within a few hundred meters. You shouldn’t have trouble finding places to eat or grab essentials

Cala Figuera

Cala Figuera is a picturesque fishing village on the southeastern coast of Mallorca, known for its charming harbor dotted with colorful fishing boats. The village is characterized by narrow winding streets, traditional whitewashed buildings, and waterfront cafes serving fresh seafood.

It’s a serene spot to enjoy the laid-back Mediterranean lifestyle and soak in the beauty of the surrounding cliffs and crystal-clear waters.

Exploring the village on foot is the best way to discover its hidden gems. Make sure you say hello to the locals in the harbour, they’re extremely chatty! ✨

⚠️ Please note there are more than one Cala Figuera’s in Mallorca, one in the north and one in the south east so make sure to put the right one in your map!

Ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and even cliff diving. You should arrive early because, as with all spots in Mallorca, they fill up quickly. The beach’s natural beauty is complemented by nearby attractions like Cala S’Almonia and the Es Pontàs rock formation. This is a great snorkelling spot in Mallorca, with tranquil waters and clear visibility.

Valldemossa

Valldemossa, a picturesque town in the Tramuntana mountains of Mallorca. It has a rich history dating back to the 13th century and is most famous for its Carthusian Monastery.

The village has a medieval charm with narrow cobblestone streets and traditional stone houses. The locals have also spent time making their individual homes look beautiful, with many plant pots hanging around front doorways.

💡I definitely recommend arriving early. Valldemossa is a very popular town among tourists and by 11am it’s busy! Don’t go too early that the sun hasn’t risen enough to shine through the cobbledstreets. I’d say 09:30 is your sweet spot but will also depend on the time of year ☀️

Here are a selection of fun activities and tours in Mallorca that you may like.

Es Trenc

Es Trenc is a stunning beach located on the southern coast of Mallorca, Spain. It’s a great spot for young families as the tide here is very calm, meaning you can paddle in the water all day with no worries! It’s just a little cold 🥶

Es Trenc is known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft white sand, and is often considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The area around Es Trenc is protected, maintaining its natural beauty and pristine environment.

The beach itself is free to access, as it’s public. However, there are parking fees if you arrive by car, and costs €5 for the day. The parking here is huge, so if the small cala’s are packed-out, this is a great plan B!

It’s a beautiful place to take a picnic, a pack of cards and a bar and ball to happily spend the day.

Cap Formentor Lighthouse & Viewpoint

Cap Formentor, known for its breathtaking landscapes and panoramic views, especially at sunset. The drive to Cap Formentor is an adventure in itself, featuring winding roads with steep cliffs. The endpoint is the iconic Formentor Lighthouse, There’s no entry fee to visit Cap Formentor, but the road can be busy and there’s limited parking, so bare that in mind when planning your timings.

Sa Calobra

Sa Calobra is a breathtaking cove where the mountains meet the sea. Located on the northwest coast of Mallorca, it is only accessible via the winding, scenic MA-2141 road, known for its dramatic hairpin bends and stunning mountain views. This road is full of cyclists, and at many parts is not wide enough for 2 cars. It can be quite chaotic driving here, so go slow!

Before making your way to the bottom, make sure to have a small pit spot at Nus de sa Corbata to check out this viewpoint, overlooking the windy road below, and to the right you can also see the ocean.

Nus de sa Corbata Mallorca

There is just one car park at the bottom, so I recommend going early morning or late afternoon. From the parking, it takes approximately 15 minutes to walk to the popular spot. Walk towards the sea, and you’ll see restaurants, bars, shops, and an information centre. Here there are public toilets that cost 0.50c per person.

Walk to your right (facing the sea) to reach the small but stunning beach nestled between towering cliffs. The water is crystal-clear and can be good for swimming/snorkelling but you do need to be careful. It was way too rough the day we went. One of the highlights of Sa Calobra is the Torrent de Pareis – a dramatic gorge that meets the sea, perfect for hiking and exploring.

Despite its remote location and windy roads, Sa Calobra does attract many visitors. There is no entry fee for the beach.

Due to the large crowds, amenities can be limited, so I would personally recommend bringing your own water and picnic!

Sóller & Port de Sóller

Sóller is a picturesque town situated in a valley on the northwest coast of Mallorca. It is known for its charming blend of traditional Mallorcan architecture and stunning natural surroundings. The town’s heart is its vibrant main square, Plaça Constitució, lined with cafes, restaurants, and the impressive Church of Sant Bartomeu. One of the best things about visiting Sóller are the delicious fresh orange juice ice slushies from Ca’n Pau – I had never tried one before and it’s beyond refreshing!

The town of Sóller is famous for its historic wooden tram, which connects the town to the nearby Port de Sóller, offering a scenic ride through groves and mountains. The town also serves as a gateway to the Tramuntana mountains, making it a popular base for hikers. The Sóller Botanical Garden and the Can Prunera Museum of Modernism are also attractions that can be visited if you have time.

To visit Port de Soller, you can either drive there directly, or take the tram!

Caló des Moro

Calo des Moro is a small and secluded beach located on the southeastern coast of Mallorca. The water is crystal-clear and it’s surrounded by dramatic cliffs and limestone formations. To get to Calo des Moro, there is a big car park, however it is approximately a 1km walk from the point where you will descend to the beach.

You can opt to try and park closer (we did) but it is street parking and is very limited. We also saw police men coming around giving out parking tickets to those who had not respected neighbours driveways etc so ONLY park here if you are doing so legally. It’s a very popular spot so I’m pretty sure the police are frequent visitors.

Once you start to descend, you’ll firstly need to tackle the very steep staircase (it’s obviously way worse coming back up haha!). You can then opt to jump in the water at the first spot you arrive at, a small rocky area where lots of people jump in the sea. To get to Calo des Moro, keep left and walk through the tree area. You will arrive to the top of the bay and will most probably encounter a line of people waiting to get to the beach.

You do need to climb (slighty, it’s not very big!) hence the backlog of people. It is known as one of Mallorca’s hidden gems, however it is not so hidden anymore. The beach space is very limited, making it a crowded spot. It’s best to visit in the early morning!

This is a great spot for swimming and snorkelling as the waves tend to be relatively calm!

Mirador sa foradada

To end this blog post about the 12 Best Places to Visit in Mallorca, Mirador sa foradada is the perfect place to watch the sunset in Mallorca. The sun sets right over the ocean, in front of this viewpoint, also lighting up the nearby cliffs. There is a small parking fee, unless you arrive late enough and then it is free (check the machine!).

There is also a small bar where you can order a drink too and if you are hungry, the restaurant does serve food, yet I’ve heard mixed reviews.

At this viewpoint, there is also a museum dating back to the 17th century called Son Marroig, which costs 4euros to enter.

If you like to party, of course a trip to Mallorca wouldn’t be complete without a night out in Magaluf. Be warned, it lives up to its reputation – whether you think that is a good thing or not is up to you! 🙂
